PA MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

When on placement at Barnsley Hospital,you will be assigned a PA Mentor.Your mentor may not work clinically in the area of your placement, however you will begiven their email address and can contact them for guidance, advice and support. We want you to get the most out of your placement specialty whilst you are with us.
The PA mentor can help to arrange teaching sessions for you and make sureyou know about any other useful available teaching or development opportunities.

Some Helpful Hints and tips!

  • Get IT access early on.
  • Ask questions and engage.
  • Match clinical skill sign off with the
    environment- for example sutures in
    ED.
  • Practise makes perfect with clinical
    skills.
  • Kath at the Education Centre can help
    perfect your clinical skills.
  • Ask about departmental teaching.
  • Always make sure you’re getting
    something out of the placement!
  • Feel free to pair off and practise
    histories and exams on consenting
    patients ready for your OSCEs.
