Useful Information for Resident Dr’s
The Resident Doctors Mess is located in Block 13 on the ground floor and provides a safe space away from wards to relax and refresh during break times. The room is equipped with comfortable seating, a TV with access to NOW TV packages, a microwave, fridge for food storage and crockery. There are also several lockers in the room and computers available for use. All codes for access to the building will be provided at induction. Please contact Medical Education if you have any problems gaining access to the room and need to report an issue.
The postgraduate team are always available to support resident doctors, to offer advice, guidance, sign post to services or even just a chat in confidence. We are based within the Education Centre and contactable by phone or email.
Both Leian and Sam are trained Mental Health first Aiders and are happy to be contacted directly and operate an open-door policy, please feel free to call or stop by.

Would you like to be a Resident Doctor Representative? There are many opportunities for you to get involved as a Representative during your post with us. Whether you would like to be a Resident Representative for the specialty you are working in or have an interest in some of the groups we already have in place, we would love to have you!

There are a variety of Departmental Teaching sessions that are held weekly within the Education Centre.
Tuesdays 1pm – General Surgery Teaching
Wednesdays 1pm – General Medicine Teaching
Thursdays 1pm – Care of the Elderly Teaching
The Prayer room is located on the 1st Floor of Block 13, the access code for the room is CZ5187.
The hospital also had a chapel located in the Blue zone.
The restaurant is situated on the first floor in the main hospital building and includes Costa Coffee and a Greggs. A varied menu is available and you are welcome to eat your own food there too. You are welcome to use the staff area at the rear of the restaurant if the main area is busy.
We have a volunteer-led coffee shop located at the bottom of the escalators in outpatients which serves drinks and light snacks. A hospital shop is also located on the ground floor (WH Smiths) which sells sandwiches and snack items. These are only open throughout the day.
